DRUG ARRESTS MADE, HANDGUN SEIZED
(10/10/2006) NEW HAVEN – Officers assigned to the Street Interdiction Detail made 11 arrests over the weekend and seized a loaded Glock .40-caliber handgun.
Timothy Haynes, 27, of 78 Sheffield Place, and Jamilla Mohamed, 22, of West Haven, were arrested in the area of Dixwell Avenue and Harding Place. They were charged with possession of a narcotic substance, possession of a narcotic substance within 1500 feet of a school, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance within 1500 feet of a school, and motor vehicle charges. Police seized one bag of crack cocaine and one bag of marijuana.
In the area of Dixwell Avenue and Henry Street, Darius Shabazz, 22, of 91 Henry Street, was served with an outstanding warrant. He was also charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance within 1500 feet of a school. Christopher Johnson, 27, of 89 Henry Street, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance within 1500 feet of a school, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and possession of a controlled substance within 1500 feet of a school with intent to sell. Luis Martinez, 33, of 761 Winchester Avenue, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance within 1500 feet of a school. Evan Shabazz, 24, of 91 Henry Street, was charged with interfering with police. Police seized $41 and five bags of marijuana.
At 88 Hazel Street, police arrested William Evans (a.k.a. Ninja Nate), 27, of 1 Brewery Square. He was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm without a permit, carrying a weapon in a motor vehicle, altering a firearm serial number, and improper parking. Police seized a loaded .40-caliber Glock and eight rounds of ammunition.
William Knight, Jr., 51, of 141 Goffe Street, was arrested in the area of Shelton Avenue and Starr Street and charged with possession of a narcotic substance and possession of a narcotic substance within 1500 feet of a school. Police seized one bag of heroin. Edmund Jackson, 50, of 25 Donna Drive, was arrested and charged with possession of a narcotic substance, possession of a narcotic substance within 1500 feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of drug paraphernalia within 1500 feet of a school. Police seized one bag of crack and a crack pipe. Archie Haskins, 51, of 98 Hazel Street, was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of drug paraphernalia within 1500 feet of a school. Police seized one crack pipe.
At 73 Hazel Street, Lee Chenault, 45, of 77 Dorman Street, was arrested on charges of criminal trespass and interfering with police.
